Officials continue to engage with the UK Government and the United Kingdom Petroleum Industry Association (UKPIA). UKPIA have confirmed that the UK does not directly import heating oil (kero) from Russia, although it is clearly a derivative of petroleum.

Supply of heating oil however at present is not impacted based on UKPIA’s current understanding and feedback from their members.

As it stands, oil prices rather than oil sourced from Russia is having the biggest impact on households.

We know oil prices have been rising over the last few months and are now the highest since June 2014.

For heating oil households, this will increase the price of kerosene28, which may affect their heating bills.

As oil prices are effected by demand and supply, conflicts between countries can create uncertainty around oil production in refineries, leading to the increased price of kerosene28.

We have put in place additional measures, through the Discretionary Assistance Fund, to support off grid homes with the additional costs incurred to purchase heating oil and liquid gas. This was as part of the £330m package of measures announced on 15 February by the Minister for Finance and Local Government.

The situation is continually being monitored and assessed by Welsh Government alongside UK Government officials and in partnership with UKPIA.
