We are continually working with Natural Resources Wales to ensure they have a resilient and suitably skilled workforce.
As an example, Natural Resources Wales is a Category 1 responder under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and operates incident response rotas to ensure that there is always an officer on duty to respond to emergencies.
This year, my officials worked with Natural Resources Wales to agree contractual changes for approximately 1,200 members of staff and ensure more are able to participate in these rotas. Natural Resources Wales’s staff were consulted on these changes and voted to accept the proposals. In addition, every member of staff whose contract changes will receive a compensatory payment.
In addition to this, part three of Natural Resource Wales’s Corporate Plan sets out its workforce planning and people strategy. This plan is due to be refreshed and we will be working with Natural Resources Wales over the next financial year to do so.
