The term ‘cyber attack’ covers a wide range of cyber security incidents, many of which are never reported to authorities. Those that are reported can be subject to criminal investigation, concern matters of national security or impact on commercial activities in the private sector, so details are rarely made public. Therefore it is not possible to provide the breakdown of the number of cyber attacks in Wales between 2015 and 2022.
