I have recently launched a Local Air Quality Management Support Fund to help local authorities tackle air pollution. I have awarded over £350,000 in this financial year which includes supporting schools to install real-time air quality monitors.
Improving air quality in Wales is an important priority in the Programme for Government which includes extending the provision of air quality monitoring. We are currently reviewing options to enhance our national air quality monitoring and assessment capabilities. Having greater ability to monitor air quality nationally will enable us to better understand air pollution risks, including for those at greatest risk of harm from air pollution, and to develop proportionate, needs-based action.
