We are committed to ensuring all children and adults with a neurodevelopmental condition, including ADHD, can access the services and care they need in all areas of Wales including the South East. We are working collaboratively with stakeholders to develop consistent integrated services to improve the provision of both assessment and support services for people with ADHD and for families and carers.
We are working to improve assessment and support services, taking immediate and long term actions with the aim of building sustainable services for the future. This work includes:
- Regional Partnership Boards, including Gwent in South East Wales are rolling out a new NEST/NYTH planning framework to improve children’s early access to the right support.
- Reviewing all children’s and adults neurodevelopmental services, to better understand demand, capacity and design of services for children, young people and adults and identify where there are gaps in provision. This work is due to be completed by March 2022 and will contain recommendations for improvement we will action.
- We are working with partners including people with ADHD to develop a national neurodevelopmental conditions action plan, this will be published during the summer and will contain our priorities for action.
- We are collaborating across government to improve support for people with ADHD, this includes working with the UK Ministry of Justice to improve support in the criminal justice system.
- We have made available £4,000 to each Regional Partnership Board to assist with the development of internal structures to support the implementation of the statutory Code of Practice on the Delivery of Autism Services which came into effect on 1 September, last year.
- The NHS led Together for Children and Young People Programme neurodevelopmental work stream is working to embed national pathways and to test a new digital profiler tool for health boards to improve information sharing and planning in children’s assessment services.
