Lower income households experiencing fuel poverty, subject to meeting eligibility criteria, can access support through our Warm Homes Programme. Our programme is designed to improve the energy efficiency of thermally inefficient low income households. Since its launch in 2009, more than 67,100 lower income households in Wales have benefitted from this programme.
Emergency support for off-gas grid households experiencing financial hardship is available through the Discretionary Assistance Fund. Grants are available for the purchase of oil and liquid gas so people can heat their homes. This grant scheme offer is available this winter for an extended six month period, from October 2021 to the end of March 2022.
As part of our cold weather resilience plan, the Welsh Government has reached out to suppliers of domestic heating oil and liquid gas to ensure every effort is being made to ensure householders have access to the supplies they need in the coming months.
