The Agriculture (Wales) White paper consultation recognised the future risks to farming including trade scenarios and set out our proposals to support famers to face these challenges.

Modelling of trade deals informed these proposals and will continue to do so as more detail comes to light and scheme design develops.  We will review our proposals in light of the consultation responses and publish a response.

We will introduce an Agriculture Bill in the first year of this Senedd to create a new system of farm support that will maximise the protective power of nature through farming. This will reward farmers who take action to respond to the climate and nature emergencies, supporting them to produce food in a sustainable way. This will enable Welsh farmers to demonstrate their products have been produced to a high environmental and animal welfare standards, while enabling them to become more resilient and competitive.
