The Quality Statement for Cancer requires NHS health boards, trusts and strategic health authorities to respond through their normal planning processes as part of their Integrated Medium Term Plans. The IMTP process was paused in March 2020 given the disruption caused by the pandemic. Instead, the NHS in Wales have developed annual plans for 2021-22 with final plans expected by 30 June. Officials will continue to work closely with the services as they continue their response to the pandemic and service recovery.
In addition, the Wales Cancer Network, part of the NHS Collaborative hosted by Public Health Wales, is developing an enabling plan for issues that are led nationally or require significant collaboration across Wales. This network plan is currently under development and I expect it to be finalised over the next two months.
