The Welsh Government continues to provide support to new entrants and those wishing to retire. One programme is Venture, which identifies and matches established landowners seeking to enter into a contract or share farming arrangements with younger new entrants seeking a route into the industry.
As of April 2021, 254 people are participating in Venture, of which 26 seekers and 38 providers have matches agreed to date and 43 joint venture agreements are now in place.
Once established, new entrants would be eligible for mainstream support including Farming Connect and the Farm Business Grant.
In the future, the proposed Sustainable Farm Scheme will be available to all types of farms and will support new entrants to enter the industry and establish sustainable businesses.
