Under the current alert level three regulations, hospitality businesses in Wales – such as pubs, cafes, restaurants and sports clubs – must not sell alcohol for consumption on the premises. All premises must close at 6pm.
The First Minister announced on Wednesday (16 December) that Wales would move to alert level four – this reflects the very serious situation in Wales at present; the extremely high cases of coronavirus in all our communities and the intense pressure on the NHS.
The new alert level four restrictions will mean all hospitality premises, which are currently trading, will be required to close at 6pm on Christmas Day.
The new alert levels and the measures, which will be introduced at each level are set out in the updated Coronavirus Control Plan, which was published earlier this week at: https://gov.wales/coronavirus-control-plan-alert-levels-wales.
It sets out in detail how national measures will be introduced in a more uniform and predictable way, depending on a range of indicators, including the level of the virus in Wales and the risk of infection.
