The Deputy Minister for Economy and Transport has met Wales Co-operative to discuss employed ownership and has agreed a series of actions, including how the government can support the sector through Business Wales.

Social Business Wales is developing new marketing approaches to further raise awareness of employee ownership, which will be promoted by Business Wales social media channels.

The Development Bank of Wales manages the £25m Wales Management Succession Fund, which provides ambitious managers and management teams with the funding they need to buy established Welsh SMEs. Opportunities for cooperatives are encouraged to proceed through the succession fund route to keep these businesses based and owned by people in Wales.

Wales Co-operative and the support agencies produced a post Covid-19 report where co-operatives have a key role in providing a clear part to play in contributing to the lives and livelihoods of people in Wales as they recover from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Vision and Action Plan Framework was launched in July has been co-produced by social enterprise support agencies in Wales and supported by Welsh Government.
