Following a sharp increase in coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Flintshire, Conwy, Denbighshire and Wrexham, local restrictions were introduced on 1 October to reduce the spread of the virus and protect public health for people living in the area.

These restrictions were introduced at the request of the North Wales Incident Management Team, (IMT) which, on 29 September raised concerns about the rising trend in rolling seven-day incidence rates of COVID-19 across these local authority areas North Wales.

The IMT comprised representatives from all six local authorities across North Wales, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and Public Health Wales.
