A wnaiff y Gweinidog gadarnhau beth mae Llywodraeth Cymru yn ei wneud ar hyn o bryd i gefnogi defnyddwyr ynni sy'n agored i niwed ac sy'n dioddef tlodi tanwydd yng Nghymru yn ystod y pandemig Covid-19?
The Welsh Government is working with UK Government, the energy regulator, Ofgem, and third sector organisations to support people struggling with energy bills in Wales. All domestic UK suppliers have now signed up to an approach which supports consumers during the COVID-19 period, for example by being flexible about payment and debt repayment plans and ensuring no credit meters will be disconnected during the outbreak. Some suppliers have gone further and launched their own initiatives.
We have continued to support people through our Warm Homes Programme Nest Scheme where social distancing requirements can be maintained. Home energy efficiency measures have been installed in 308 households between 23 March and 31 May. We will continue to provide emergency services to lower income households with no heating or hot water where it is safe to do so.
Additional support for low income and vulnerable households is being made available through the Welsh Government’s Discretionary Assistance Fund (DAF). Extra funding of £11.2m is being made available from the COVID 19 reserve to help support the increasing demands on the fund. Between 18 March and 29 May, more than 26,600 EAP DAF payments have been made totalling £1.64m. Of these payments, 16,501 claimants receiving payments totalling more than £1m have cited COVID 19 as the reason for needing additional support.
