Welsh Government officials have regular discussions with the Education Workforce Council (EWC). There are no plans at this time to change aspects of registration with the EWC as a result of the Covid-19 situation, including in relation to annual registration fees.

Permanent staff registrants in Wales have their fees deducted from salary by their employer and there is a legal requirement on the employer to do so. The employers then remit the money to the EWC. Supply staff pay their annual fee directly to the EWC each year. The renewal fee for direct payers, such as supply staff, for the registration year (1st April 2020 – 31st March 2021) was payable by 31st March 2020. The EWC issued a number of communications during February 2020 to those practitioners who remit their fees directly, and have reported that most supply workers remitted their fees for renewal as usual.
