The aim is to bring the planning application to the attention of local residents in the wider area as the development proposals become larger or more significant. The extent of a postcode area will not always represent the area of planning impacts. The existing arrangements allow local planning authorities to use their discretion to identify the extent of potential impacts and associate need for publicity.
