Pa ystyriaeth sydd wedi'i rhoi i ddarparu archwiliadau diogelwch trydanol am ddim ar gyfer cartrefi yng Nghymru lle mae un person dros 80 oed yn byw?
While older people are often at greater risk of fire in their homes, there is no evidence that they are at particular risk of electrical fires. The Welsh Government provides £10m annually to Care and Repair agencies across Wales to provide services to help older people to live as independently as possible in their own homes. Where needed this does include a home safety check. We also have a £40m Property Loan Scheme which is available to residents across Wales to make their homes safe, warm, and secure. We have no immediate plans to provide additional free electrical safety checks for homes inhabited by one person aged over 80 in Wales.
Once implemented, the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016, will require landlords to ensure their dwelling is fit for human habitation. This will include a requirement for landlords to install working carbon monoxide alarms, smoke alarms and undertake an electrical safety test at least every five years.
