I have allocated £658,958 in grant funding for 2019/20 to local authorities for the provision of National Standards Cycle Training across Wales. National Standards Level 1 & 2 is offered as standard in 21 out of 22 authorities with one authority offering Level 1 and some authorities also offering Level 3 training to secondary schools, colleges and adults. The funding for 2019/20 will provide cycle training for 15,337 children and adults.

The National Standards Cycle Training is delivered by the local authority not individual schools.  Local authorities are responsible for evaluating and monitoring the training they deliver on a local level. The Welsh Government does not hold information on the percentage of schools that receive training within each authority. However, it is our intention to commission a review of National Standards Cycle Training in Wales this year.

The Local authorities are responsible for monitoring and assessing the progress of individuals against the National Standards Training Outcomes. This information is not published.

A breakdown of number of individuals to be trained in 2019/20 for each authority is outlined below.  We do not hold information on the percentage of eligible children in each authority.
