As outlined in our Welsh in Education: Action Plan 2017-21, we will support leaders and practitioners in Wales to be lifelong professional learners that continue to develop their Welsh language skills and have the knowledge and expertise to deliver the curriculum through the medium of Welsh and Welsh as a subject.

Over the next months, we will work with key partners to ensure that we have a clear understanding of the workforce’s Welsh language skills and, where relevant, their ability to teach Welsh and through the medium of Welsh to inform workforce planning, based on robust data.

Based on this data, we will work with the regional consortia to develop and deliver national and regional professional learning opportunities to develop effective teaching and learning of Welsh and subjects through the medium of Welsh and consider how we can encourage more teachers to teach through the medium of Welsh.
