The Welsh NHS does not specifically calculate costs of missed outpatient appointments. It calculates the costs of appointments that do take place, which can be considered a reasonable proxy for the opportunity costs of a missed appointment. The average cost of an outpatient appointment is £181 per appointment. Average outpatient costs per appointment range from £133 to £355 depending on specialty.
