The Welsh Government provided additional support to South Wales Fire and Rescue Service during the current wildfires by funding Army personnel to assist ground-based operations, including the cutting of firebreaks to help contain the fire and prevent its further spread. This support was highly effective and was delivered alongside assistance from other UK fire and rescue services through established mutual aid arrangements.
