The role of education in strengthening community cohesion is a key theme in our bilateral meetings. In November, we focused on the issue of antisemitism in education and further education settings, which led to a meeting with Jewish community members in December.

On the A470 at Pontybat small-scale safety measures have been identified, which can be delivered quickly within the existing highway. These include new road markings and signs along a 4.6 km route, improving visibility, adding audible warnings and better junction and bend treatments. Design work is progressing, and construction is expected to start before Easter this year.

We take road safety seriously and are currently undertaking a comprehensive transport needs and resilience study for the A55/A494 and A483 corridor. This work will provide a robust, evidence-based assessment of the safety challenges and identify the most effective options to improve safety and strengthen the route’s long-term resilience.

We now have options for highway safety improvements on the A494 at Lôn Fawr and a consultation on these is expected to start before the end of March. In the interim there are full time A frames erected that act as pedestrian warning signs.
