The Welsh Government continues to prioritise value for money in all of our spending, in line with the principles of 'Managing Welsh Public Money'. It is an integral part of our financial processes and is a key consideration for each Cabinet Secretary in managing their own portfolios.

The Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning and her officials meet regularly with Industry Wales to discuss its work on behalf of the Welsh Government. On the matter of the auditor general’s report, Industry Wales has implemented all recommendations and is confident in its robust future accounts procedures.

Transport for Wales are aware of Cardiff Council's ambition to deliver a north-west corridor rail link as outlined in their transport White Paper. We are working closely with Cardiff Council as they develop their proposals for phase 1a of the Cardiff Crossrail project between Cardiff Central station and the bay.

My officials are working with National Highways to help minimise the impacts of the implementation of the 7.5 tonne weight limit on the first Severn bridge. Traffic data shows there will be a daily increase of 3,000/3,500 heavy goods vehicles on the M4 diversion route.

Brand-new trains are now in regular operation across Wales, including Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire. Transport for Wales has increased the number of services to Milford Haven and is boosting capacity on key tourist routes by adding two additional services between Carmarthen and Tenby over the summer months.

We are improving public transport access with the continued enhancements to the south Wales metro. We are also improving our bus fares offer for young people through our forthcoming scheme to offer £1 fares for single journeys and £3 cap on multiple journeys in a day.
