We continue to support households across Wales and South Wales West to mitigate the pressures of the cost-of-living crisis, investing almost £5bn between 2022 and 2025 in schemes which help people access their entitlements and help keep money in people’s pockets and targeting support at people who need it most.

Third Sector Support Wales will receive core funding of £5.677m in 2024/25.  £395,809 of this funding goes to Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations, to help local voluntary organisations with fundraising, good governance, safeguarding and volunteering.

Tackling Child Poverty remains a key cross cutting theme throughout budget considerations and decision making.  The Social Justice budget will support the co-ordination of cross-government activity and enable strong collaboration at the regional and local level to address the root causes of child poverty in the long term.

In our Active Travel Delivery Plan we committed to reviewing and updating the Active Travel Act Guidance. We are working with Transport for Wales to review and update the guidance, with a particular emphasis on accessibility and inclusivity.

I have regular discussions with the UK Government regarding rail infrastructure funding in Wales. It remains my position that we have not received a fair share of the money already spent on HS2. When there is further UK Government spending on HS2 I would expect Wales to receive additional funding.

Welsh Government is committed to improving public transport reliability for all users. Thanks to our funding, Transport for Wales and local authorities continue their work to improve public transport in South East Wales - increasing rail services, encouraging passenger growth and making significant progress towards bus franchising.
