The primary aim of the policy is to save lives and reduce casualties. Quarterly data from Powys shows a decline in collisions since the 20mph limit was introduced. However, the low number of yearly collisions means at least three years of data are needed to assess the policy's impact.

The temporary 50mph speed limits on the A40 and M48 have been implemented due to the deteriorated condition of the road restraint system at several locations.

The design for the replacement of the M48 barriers is currently underway and the design for replacement of the barriers for the A40 is included in this financial year (24/25). The schemes remain a priority for construction within our Capital Safety Fence programme and will be advanced as soon as funding permits.

The Welsh Government does not directly support sports broadcasters. However, Creative Wales works with the sector and broadcasters to help enable a progressive, sustainable environment for the production of sporting content for audiences both inside and outside Wales.

We are providing significant support for bus companies across Wales. Through our two key bus grants the sector has been allocated £64m in 2024/25, and also benefits from funding for concessionary fares and regional investments.

This financial year, we are giving the National Library of Wales over £1m in additional revenue to mitigate the impact of job losses, help ensure its financial sustainability and protect its digital collections. We are also providing additional capital funding this year for emergency repairs to its roof.

The Welsh Government continues to support those at risk of falling into fuel poverty. Maximising the levers we have here in Wales to tackle poverty remains a key cross-government priority.  We continue to invest in our fuel voucher and discretionary assistance schemes to help people in crisis with fuel costs.

We continue to work towards a safer Wales for women and girls. We do this in collaboration with the specialist sector, survivors and other stakeholders through our Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Strategy and Blueprint workstreams.
