Schools participating in PISA are not expected to prepare students for the assessment.

Optional pre-recorded lessons have been made available to schools to introduce PISA and familiarise learners with the question format. These aim to reduce anxiety for those students unfamiliar with this style of assessment.

Each participating learner has received a pamphlet, co-developed with 15-year-olds and Children in Wales, explaining that PISA is a snapshot of skills and that no preparation or revision is needed.

PISA provides valuable insight into our learners’ strengths and areas for improvement, as well as international comparisons. It is not used for school accountability but contributes to the broader evidence base we use to understand the health of our education system.

No formal assessment has been carried out on the impact of water pollution incidents on businesses during the summer holidays.

However, the Welsh Government recognises the pressures these incidents can place on coastal communities, particularly those reliant on tourism. While there isn’t a targeted support scheme for seaside businesses affected by bathing water advisories, wider funding is available through programmes such as Brilliant Basics and Transforming Towns. These initiatives aim to strengthen local economies, support business resilience, and enhance the overall visitor experience in coastal areas.

We have supported successful plastic film collection trials from households in both Swansea and the Vale of Glamorgan, covering around 38,000 homes. The trials have been designed to provide Local Authorities with valuable data and operational information to support our commitment to the Wales-wide roll out of flexible successful plastic collections by April 2027, as reflected within the 2025 update of the Welsh Government’s Collection Blueprint.

In addition to the partnership work with Local Authorities on flexible plastic film collections, we have supported the £45 million investment by JayPlas in a new plastic recycling plant in Swansea, which includes a flexible packaging wash and reprocessing plant. This investment will more than double Wales’ plastic reprocessing capacity, processing at least 100,000 tonnes of flexible and rigid plastics a year and creating over 100 new jobs at the former Toyoda Gosei factory site, boosting the circular economy in Wales.

Weight loss drugs are available for prescription, across health boards, in Wales through specialist services as set out within the All-Wales Weight Management Pathway.

The All Wales Weight Management Pathway (Adult weight management pathway 2021 | GOV.WALES) sets out our approach to the development of weight management services for patients in Wales, from early intervention to specialist support, and is consistent with National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance. An addendum to the guidance sets out that weight management medication can be prescribed by a specialist service, where clinically indicated and in combination with a behavioural (lifestyle) intervention that includes a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

Further information on tirzepatide (Mounjaro) for weight management, published by Welsh Health Circular in May, can be found here: Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) for the management of obesity and overweight (WHC/2025/018) [HTML] | GOV.WALES
